1996 Chevrolet Impala — Chrome Gold Mesh 2-Piece Forged with Chrome Barrel (24″ Staggered Donk-Style)

Model: RC1227-1XT (2490 / 2410)

A 1996 Impala owner came to XINGTU wanting the definitive American Donk-style build — 24″ wheels, twin-tone chrome gold center against a bright mirror-chrome barrel, staggered fitment with the wider 24×10 at the rear. The customer’s car has already been rebuilt with a 5×127 / 78.3 mm redrilled hub conversion to accept modern GM full-size fitments, so XINGTU built strictly to the customer-submitted fitment numbers rather than to 1996 Impala factory specs. The build was specified as a true 2-piece forged construction with matched drawing-numbered fronts and rears.

    Engineering Notes

XINGTU's engineers want to highlight three details that define this build.

First, this is a true 2-piece forged wheel — the multi-spoke mesh center face is forged from 6061-T6 with continuous grain flow, then bolted to a separately forged barrel using torque-spec, pressure-tested stainless hardware. That's why the visible fastener ring wraps the outer edge of the barrel — those bolts are what hold the two forged pieces together as one structural unit. XINGTU's engineers torque every fastener to spec and pressure-test the completed assembly for seal so the face and barrel behave as one under cornering and highway loads.

Second, all fitment numbers here are customer-specified, not OEM-derived. A stock 1996 Impala runs 5x120.65 with a 70.3 mm hub; this customer submitted 5x127 / 78.3 mm, which is standard modern GM full-size (Silverado / Tahoe / Suburban) fitment. XINGTU's engineers built strictly to the submitted numbers on the assumption that the customer's car has already been rebuilt with a redrilled 5x127 hub conversion — a common step in the American Donk-style big-rim community. Because this is a made-to-order forged wheel, not a bolt-on OEM replacement, the responsibility for hub-conversion compatibility and clearance stays with the customer's build.

Third, this is a two-electroplating build. Both the chrome gold center and the bright chrome barrel are true electroplated metal layers — the forged shells are first CNC-polished to mirror smoothness, then copper-plated and nickel-plated as base layers; the barrel then receives the standard chrome layer, while the center face receives a gold-tinted chrome final layer to produce the deep transparent-gold reflection. Neither finish is paint or a coating; both are metal-on-metal plating for maximum depth and long-term durability. The 78.3 mm bore is machined hub-centric to the customer's converted hub, so the wheel carries load on the hub, not the studs. At 24" diameter and roughly 17.8 kg per wheel, the forged construction keeps unsprung mass reasonable for the big-rim application while holding a 750 kg-per-wheel load rating.

    Quality Verified

    • CMM dimensional inspection (PCD / CB / runout)
    • Dynamic balancing on every wheel
    • 2-piece hardware torqued to spec & pressure-tested for seal
    • Forged 6061-T6, hub-centric machining verified
    • Multi-layer chrome plating adhesion & mirror QC on barrel
    • Multi-layer chrome gold plating adhesion & tone consistency QC on center
    • Final finish inspected under controlled lighting before packing

    Result

Compare the studio render on the left with the finished wheels photographed in-plant on the right
—the customer's concept has been executed exactly. The chrome gold center delivers a deep transparent-gold reflection under any light, while the bright chrome barrel throws a full mirror ring around the rim, together giving the 1996 Impala the definitive Donk-style street stance. True 2-piece construction, 750 kg-per-wheel load-rated, and built to the customer's exact submitted fitment.

XINGTU forges to your exact submitted fitment—including hub-conversion specs—with chrome, chrome gold, chrome color, brushed, painted, or polished finishes all available.
